Grainger Proud to Participate in Pride Month
Grainger’s commitment to inclusion and diversity starts with a focus on building a culture where every team member feels included as part of something meaningful, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disabilities or experiences.
Grainger team members founded the company’s Equality Alliance Business Resource Group (BRG) in 2013 to celebrate the success of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally (LGBTA) team members, attract LGBTA talent, and provide an inclusive environment for all employees. Grainger also became a corporate sponsor of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in 2014 to help find and add LGBT-owned companies to our supply chain.
In 2015, Grainger earned a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking report administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The report evaluates corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, including nondiscrimination workplace protections, equal benefits for married same and opposite gender spouses and domestic partners and transgender-inclusive healthcare coverage.
June is Pride Month, and Grainger’s Equality Alliance BRG celebrated by sponsoring the company’s participation in the 2015 Chicago Pride Parade on June 28.
“I am a proud LGBT ally. I believe strongly in acceptance of all human beings. One of the reasons I love working for Grainger is that it is an open and welcoming environment for all people. Grainger does an excellent job of recognizing top talent and the Equality Alliance BRG is proof that we have a place for everyone. I am proud to participate and represent Grainger in the Chicago Pride parade this year. Grainger’s participation in this event shows we are serious about inclusion.” – Lori Hays, Manager of Territory Sales
